Description
Are you a literacy specialist, curriculum coordinator, or reading specialist who conducts PD sessions for secondary ELA teachers or administrators? Often, these faculty members do not have a background in reading components. With the implementation of MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support), and as more students enter middle and high school lacking skills, teachers are in need of quick, relevant training.
These components of reading (for middle school, high school, or administrator training) information cards are just what you need to print and train on a dime!
Just what you need:
Versions of cards are included: fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Additionally, the Word Work card is included as editable piece as many secondary curriculum standards do not address this component. Its continuum is on the cover for additional information, too.
Each of the components of reading cards contain a place for:
-
standards that align with the component
-
data targets for students to reach
-
data indicators to know if students met targets
-
component definition, written in two ways
-
best practices and high-yield activities for instruction
Make it work for you:
A variety of pieces make this customizable:
1. Print covers at either 8.5″X11″ (and adhere to file folders) or 11″X17″ (and fold in half to create a folder).
2. Cards with TEKS or CCSS already filled in, but with editable areas for data targets and indicators (assessments).
3. Cards with editable standards, data targets, and indicators. If you are in a school, state, or country that does not use TEKS or CCSS or if you would like to use them for grades higher than 8, use these cards.
4. An extra Word Work card to be used if your training addresses this piece.
These cards complement any training on secondary MTSS, reading components, or classroom intervention!
The folders created by the cover page are filled in with the printed pages. You can insert additional pieces you’re using during training, too. Include test or classroom data, additional component information, research, etc.
