MTSS Training Enhancement

Are you a district leader in charge of training faculty in your Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) processes? If so, this build-a-whole-child is what you need to make your training session lively, engaging, and FUN!

As your training participants search and find information in your documents, or as they answer your questions about district specifics, they can earn a piece of the Whole Child, ending with a superhero cape!

The Whole Child components include a/an:

  • child outline, cut to allow placement of the cap while keeping the page complete
  • graduation cap to symbolize academics
  • jar of vitamins to symbolize prevention
  • award to indicate behavior
  • t-shirt with a heart to indicate SEL / Wellness
  • cast to symbolize interventions
  • cargo shorts to indicate enrichment
  • cape to show remind us all to recognize students’ superpowers!

To help, a chart is included that helps make the connection between the object and the item. Of course you can reword the meaning of each piece to fit your district’s version of MTSS.

  • t-shirt with a heart to indicate SEL / Wellness
  • cast to symbolize interventions
  • cargo shorts to indicate enrichment
  • cape to show remind us all to recognize students’ superpowers!

Do you need to know more about multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)? Check out this blog for background information and how it applies to secondary education.

Enhance your faculty training with hands-on fun! After all, adult learners perceive themselves as doers (The National Center for Research in Vocational Education, 1987) and have attention spans of 15-20 minutes (Michigan Municipal League). These components are tried and true “rewards” during a district-leader scavenger hunt through MTSS policy documents, creating a memorable experience for participants! (Having a sense of competition certainly made the room lively!)
