Reading Strategies Training Help!
Have you been tasked with providing reading strategies professional development for teachers who do not typically teach reading? Do your ELA teachers need quick ideas for supporting 1B students within the classroom?
This READY TO GO training provides an engaging reading strategies professional development experience focused on research-proven techniques!
Easy to use!
Using a challenging piece of text (included), teachers practice skills that reinforce vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension and fix-up strategies! These strategies are presented in a “light” version. They do not include heavy reading background information, so they are fast, easy things teachers can do as part of regular instruction to support readers.
To deliver, gather writing utensils and highlighters / colored pens, if desired. With minimal printing of one-page text and two-pages of word part activity, you’re ready to go!
Three ways to access the 21 slides:
- As a pdf, for a download / play as is,
- With a Canva link (no Canva account necessary) to play as a presentation as is, and
- As a Canva template, so with a free Canva account, you can change the information you need to change to fit your needs!
The training as-is takes about an hour, but to extend, add in more information about Reading Components and Think Marks (links to additional pieces included). Of course, extended training can also include analyzing grade level / content assessment data to discuss how reading needs influence understanding within their areas.
