Description
This reading editable review helps students in secondary reading support who often have attention, focus, and/or motivation issues. Using this Tic-Tac-Toe board helps students practice reading syllables, fluency phrases, and passages while having fun playing. This also gives your students something to accomplish independently while you meet with other students or groups! Use with the included materials or with your own activities to add a bit of fun to otherwise tedious tasks by choosing the work you need accomplished – such as textbook work, journal entries, or grammar reviews – and pump in some fun by assigning each activity either an X or an O. The multi-game page can last the entire month, or use the large one for a day or week.
The reading review pages include: syllable type identification (open, closed, vowel team, V+r, V+le, VCe), reading syllables, identifying number of syllables (2-4), marking syllables, reading fluency phrases, adding end punctuation, adding all punctuation. Use the ones that work for your students or create your own on the editable page.
Use this the way you and your students need it:
- against themselves or against another student
- over a single game or over several games
- with your activities or with included activities
- by telling students which activities earn an X or an O or keeping it secret until after an assignment is complete
- holding a final tic-tac-toe tournament or simply celebrating the wins
This supports reading intervention classes and Texas Secondary Reading Elective work.
